A hundred thousand snowflakes fall
I wonder where they’ll lie
each one unique in every way
fall silently from the sky
From a speck of dust travelling through the air
shaping their intricate design
I see their beauty, their mystery, their time to glisten that makes me blind
Savouring the solitude of my evening thoughts
the snowflakes melt away….
Yet, you and I, so different
Unique in our own way
From a single speck of cell made wonder to face another day
Shaped by kisses, love and trust….
intricately designed to walk
a silent path of dust
to fall
to cry
to cover
to carry
to rise
to sing
to laugh
to marry
to live
to believe
to grow old and to love …. consummately in
agape, eros, philia and storge
and in the passing of time
All this too, will silently melt away…
Will I catch a ride with you to the moon some day
dance as stars collide in the sky
Will a winters tale shape the days ahead with my dreams and my lullaby
I see your beauty from within
I fear your mystery when it calls
I sense your touch, your smell, your breath
As we journey on this mortal coil.
and with the crackling of the evening fire,
Irish cream with ice and the Christmas lights
Just like the snowflakes falling down
memories melt away
into the night …….
