Autobiography

About the Author

The backdrop bit …

I was born in Belfast in 1960 and grew up in the worst of what is known as ‘The Troubles’ (1969 – 1998).  Despite this horrific back drop I had the perfect childhood full of fun, laughter and unconditional love.

The traumatic bit …

I am forever grateful for the unconditional love I received from my parents and was heartbroken when trust, love and loyalty didn’t manifest itself in marriage. It was in early adulthood I was first faced with the excruciating pain of heartbreak and forced to make some life changing decisions which effected my personal circumstances in the years ahead.

The good bit …

With support from my family along with a lot of soul searching over the years, my faith, love of music and keeping my sense of humour helped me survive the trauma of that painful time.

The happy bit …

Recently I have found solace in writing these poems which are written from the heart and come to me in the most surprising and unexpected way, like in a 4am alarm call!

I would describe my poetry as ‘Sad Poems’ but despite how they read I am actually quite a jovial upbeat people person who loves nothing more than watching live music, having a good belly laugh, appreciating the simple things in life and being around those I love the most. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The best of times bit …

I continue to live by the mantra of Live, Laugh, Love and share with those of a more discerning heart.

I’m presently living in a little seaside town with the waves, boats, seagulls and coffee shops where I have found serenity, joy and happiness.
